Haddington Hill

Haddington Hill is a hill in The Chilterns, and the highest point in the English county of Buckinghamshire. On the north-eastern flank is Coombe Hill, not to be confused with another Coombe Hill 4 kilometres to the south-west.

Haddington Hill is owned by the Forestry Commission, whose Wendover Woods cover much of the hill. Many tracks run through the forest, and a car park is located near the summit among the trees: the flat summit means the precise location of the highest point is difficult to determine with certainty. However, in the woods to the east of the car park there is a large stone bearing the inscription 'Highest Point of the Chiltern Hills' which can reasonably be accepted as the summit. Those looking for a view will unfortunately be disappointed as the high point is surrounded by trees.

Pavis Wood

Pavis Wood is an area of woodland on a hill located near Hastoe in Tring, north-western Hertfordshire,England. A point on its eastern slopes is the highest point in the county of Hertfordshire at 244 m (801 ft). The area is often considered as ancient woodland comprising of a wide variety of plants such as the Yellow Pimpernel and Wood Mellick. A bridleway crosses the woodland which can be accessed throughout the year as well as the Ridgeway National Trail which is dominated mainly by beech, oak and ash.

The summit plateau lies less than 3 miles from the border of Buckinghamshire and part of the Aylesbury Vale which contains the Buckinghamshire county top Haddington Hill 267 m (876 ft). It is linked to Haddington Hill by a high ridge which gives this hill a mere 5 metres of relative height.

The summit area is unmarked and is difficult to determine, as is Haddington Hill's summit in Wendover Woods.

The county is one of the Home Counties and lies inland, bordered by Greater London, Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire (the unitary authorities of Luton and Central Bedfordshire), Cambridgeshire and Essex.

The Channel Tunnel (French: Le tunnel sous la Manche), known colloquially as the Chunnel, is a 50.5-kilometre (31.4 mi) undersea rail tunnel linking Folkestone, Kent near Dover in the United Kingdom with Coquelles, Pas-de-Calais near Calais in northern France beneath the English Channel at the Strait of Dover. At its lowest point it is 75 m (246 ft) deep. At 37.9 km (23.5 mi), the Channel Tunnel has the longest undersea portion of any tunnel in the world, although the Seikan Tunnel in Japan is both longer overall, at 53.85 km (33.46 mi) and deeper, at 240 m (790 ft) below sea level.

Hadley Wood

Hadley Wood is a suburb of North London, close to the border with Hertfordshire. It is located in the London Borough of Enfield, about 11 miles (17.7 km) north north-west of Charing Cross and is situated close to Barnet.
